Does spending the night in a haunted hotel on your vacation sound like fun? Well, if your into that sort of thing than Washington DC is a great placed to troll around for haunted hotels. Personally I stay as far away from the "Haunts" as I can get but thats just me. I get creeped out pretty easy and I enjoy a good nights rest not having to worry about someone watching me in my sleep. Damm, I'm getting creeped out just thinking about it.
But if you want to spend your nights with ghosts, specters, entities, phantoms, apparitions, or restless spirits, then you can find hotels in almost every state in the U.S. rumored to have unwelcome guests that refuse to leave.
If your one of those brave souls or just made a drunken bet and have to see it through, here are a few rumored haunted hotels, haunted motels, haunted bed and breakfasts, and haunted inns in Washington DC.
Located in Lafayette Square across from the White House, The Hay-Adams is one of Washington D.C.’s most revered landmarks. This classic historic hotel in Washington, DC is named after the distinguished residents who previously lived on its site: John Hay, Private Assistant to President Abraham Lincoln and later Secretary of State, and Henry Adams, an acclaimed author and descendant of U.S. Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams. One of the most famous hotels in Washington DC, The Hay-Adams offers luxurious modern guest rooms and modern amenities.
The smell of mimosa, doors opening and closing, the sound of a woman’s crying, and guests being hugged by unseen arms or called by name by a disembodied voice are some of the many signs that not all guests have checked out of The Hay-Adams.
The Hay-Adams is located at:
One Lafayette Square, 16th & H Streets Northwest, Washington, DC 20006

The Renaissance Mayflower Hotel
Right in the heart of Washington DC’s historic district, The Renaissance Mayflower Hotel stands only four blocks from The White House and has hosted every Presidential Inauguration Ball since its opening.
Opened in 1925 and quickly labeled Washington, DC's "Second Best Address" by President Harry Truman, The Mayflower Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel is the Progressive Grand Dame of the Nation's Capital, and a 4-diamond Washington, DC luxury hotel.
But one president missed his inaugural ball. Having lost his son only two weeks before his election, President Calvin Coolidge did not attend, and since, lights flicker in the Grand Ballroom at the time of the ball’s commencement, plates of hors d’oeuvres and wine are left on the balcony when those foods had not been served that day, and it is believed that Coolidge returns to attend his inauguration ball year after year on the anniversary.
The Renaissance Mayflower Hotel is located at:
1127 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20036

Since 1930, the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC has played host to presidents, world leaders and inaugural balls, making it a true historic Washington landmark.
Located in one of the most influential cities of the world, this grand luxury hotel offers a resort atmosphere and a personal taste of politics, culture, art and music at its best. The four-diamond Omni Shoreham Hotel is located in Rock Creek Park, as is only a short walk from the National Zoo.
Lights and televisions turn on suddenly and wake guests from sleep, housekeeping carts move on their own, and guests feel the breeze of someone rushing past them in the hallways. There is thought to be at least one resident ghost.
The Omni Shoreham Hotel is located at:
2500 Calvert Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20008
